Street Library

The Street Library aims to combat exclusion by promoting access to reading and culture.

All year round, once or twice a week, a team of volunteers goes to an HLM housing plan in the Hochelaga district of Montreal to share the pleasure of reading in a space open to all.

We seek to make books an object of discovery, wonder and openness, with children for whom books are generally associated with school, where they often fail. By sharing our thirst for learning and discovering, we get to know each other better and fight exclusion.

After a period of reading, the Street Library offers a period of creative or manual activity, depending on the talents and know-how of the volunteers. From painting workshops to musical stories, through magic or circus activities, everything is possible!

The activity is mostly in French but some families we serve are english speakers and we would love to have you on our team.
